11 Expose In-House Works of Darkness

Many Evangelicals claim to follow Scripture alone in areas of doctrine and practice. However, many man-made traditions, teachings and practices have become firmly entrenched within local assemblies, ministries and movements. The a major emphasis is to actually return to the teachings and guidance of the Bible in *all* areas of doctrine and practice. This requires identifying the problem areas, exposing the error, and offering the Biblical solution.

The Bible is clear, understandable, with teachings that can be understood by those led by the Holy Spirit. Including the command that we are to test all things, the Remnant of Jesus have a responsibility to point out and solve Biblical inconsistencies – both in doctrine and in practice. This includes practice of the local church in assembly.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them, for you were formerly darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of light (for the fruit of that light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead even expose them. (Ephesians 5:6–11, LSB)

Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother who walks in an unruly manner and not according to the tradition which they received from us. (2 Thessalonians 3:6, LSB)

Now I urge you, brothers, to keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and stumblings contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own stomach, and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting. (Romans 16:17–18, LSB)

If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting, for the one who gives him a greeting participates in his evil deeds. (2 John 10–11, LSB)
